NEET 2026 Eligibility Criteria

At the time of admission, the candidate must be at least 17 years old, or will be by December 31st of the year in which they are accepted into the first year of the undergraduate medical program.

  • Education Qualifications: Candidates must have passed the English, physics, chemistry, and biology/biotechnology sections of the 10+2 exam or be pursuing them.
  • Minimum Marks:
    • For General/UR or EWS Students: 50% in physics, chemistry, and biology/biotechnology combined 
  • For SC/ST/OBC-NCL – 40% in the same subjects
  • PwBD: 45% in the same subjects
  • Candidates must be either foreign nationals, Indian citizens, Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs), Non-Resident Indians (NRIs), or Overseas Citizens of India (OCIs).

NEET 2026: Major Changes Introduced in 2025

In preparation for the NEET 2026 exam, students should take note of some important changes that were legally adopted in 2025. These changes cover important topics, including the exam structure, minimum age restrictions:

  • In NEET 2026, the exam was rescheduled to take place from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM (IST) and was cut by 20 minutes, for a total of 180 minutes (03:00 hours).
  • Indian aspirants must pass the qualifying NEET UG exam to study medicine abroad.
  • Although there is no higher age limit for the NEET test, the associated categories should follow minimum age requirements. Furthermore, there is no cap on the quantity of NEET attempts.
